Damphousse Is Seagate POTM
The San Jose Sharks announced today that center Vincent Damphousse has been selected as
the Seagate Technology "Sharks Player of the Month" for October. The award will be presented
before tonight's game versus Los Angeles.
In 10 games during October, Damphousse, 34, led the team in goals and points (6-3=9), while
also leading the team in power play goals and power play assists (3-3=6). In addition, the
six-foot-one, 205-pound native of Montreal, Quebec led the team in shooting percentage (30%)
and total faceoffs taken (177).
Damphousse, who was acquired by San Jose via trade from Montreal on March 23, 1999, posted
his third official NHL milestone in a Sharks uniform when he scored his 400th career goal on Oct.
17 vs. Edmonton, becoming the 71st player in League history to accomplish the feat.
This is the fifth time Damphousse has been named Seagate Technology "Sharks Player of the
Month," the most in franchise history.
The Seagate Technology "Sharks Player of the Month" program is in its sixth full season and
honors the Sharks player(s) who have contributed most to the team's success each month.
Seagate Technology will donate $2,500 on behalf of the player(s) to The Sharks Foundation. In
addition, one player will be selected as the Seagate Technology "Sharks Player of the Year" at
the conclusion of the season, and Seagate Technology will donate $5,000 on his behalf to The
Sharks Foundation. Seagate Technology has donated more than $140,000 to The Sharks
Foundation since the program's inception.
