SHARKS NOTEBOOK
Vinnie reaches milestone
Ross McKeon San Francisco Chronicle
Friday, October 18, 2002
Vincent Damphousse's goal 66 seconds into Thursday night's game not only kick-started the Sharks, but represented a personal milestone as
well.
Damphousse became the 71st player in NHL
history to score 400 goals. The 17- year pro
collected his third of the year after Scott Hannan's
shot from the left point ricocheted off teammate
Owen Nolan to the weakside of the net where an
unmarked Damphousse was free to tap past
Edmonton goalie Tommy Salo.
"I'm very happy," Damphousse said. "I've been
fortunate to be playing a long time and avoid
injuries. I'm glad to get it done early in the season."
Damphousse, one of six Sharks to score 20 goals
last year, is off to a fast start with three in the team's
first three games.
...Quote by Vincent Damphousse...
"It's a nice milestone, I've had to be durable and avoid injuries. I don't want to stop now. I still think I have a lot of years left. It's fun for me to play right now."
